Yixiao Ma
Research Associate
I support the cell and molecular biology aspects of the projects in the Bhushan Lab.
Students and staff working across engineering, biology and computation.
Associate Professor, Biomedical Engineering
I received my PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana State University, and postdoctoral training from the University of California, Davis and Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School/Shriners Boston. As an NIH K30 scholar at UC Davis, I obtained a second MS in Advanced Clinical Research.
My lab's research is at the intersection of microfluidics (polymer and metal), cell and molecular biology, and medical devices. I participated in the NSF I-Corps program to assess the market fit of a technology under development in my lab. I teach courses in biofluid mechanics, medical devices and synthetic biology.
I have been fortunate to receive several awards, including the NIH K99/R00, the NSF CAREER Award and the CMBE Young Innovator Award.
I am passionate about student success and love to develop out-of-the-box learning opportunities (the first Sustainability Hackathon at Harvard) and fun ways of communicating science.
